Sorry For Laughing

Tone Float #4 (February 16, 2011)

Fun, fun show today. More of the good stuff flowing out of the Tone Float speakers, bathing the city in grooves. I'll draw special attention to Josef K and their album "The Only Fun In Town." Dig in if you haven't heard it before. I have been pretty obsessed with it for the past couple weeks and it just keeps getting better and better. The album is packed with skittery beats and monotonous vocals. You can almost feel Paul Haig staring down the microphone into your soul. It's a good feeling.

Stop Making Sense

Last night I went to see Stop Making Sense at the movie theatre. Just when you thought the big suit couldn't get any bigger...

White Riot

A little Clash for you to enjoy when you're feeling blue. The energy in this clip is out of this world. They really knew how to turn it up.

Tone Float #3 (February 9, 2011)

This was the ultimate bittersweet show today. Just last week The White Stripes announced that they have broken up. I've been holdin' back the tears for as long as I can but I let them spill onto the tape today, baby. Never will I love a band like I loved this one. "The Union Forever."

The Young Canadians

Art Bergmann and the crew tear through their Vancouver punk anthem "Hawaii." They lived by three rules: play fast, live fast, get a tan on your bum.

This Heat

Get a load of this band. This Heat made two albums in the late 70s/early 80s and they are both stone cold classics. Their second album, Deceit, is full of warped tape samples and scratchy guitar lines. Apparently the main inspiration for the record was the band's fear of impending nuclear war. Talk about heavy. The production is also amazing. One moment it sounds really crisp and hi-fi, the next it sounds like your speakers are exploding. Enough said, dig in.

Alright baby,
My name is Evan and this is the homepage for my radio show, TONE FLOAT. Every Wednesday from 6-8 AM I will be sharing my favourite tunes on CFUV 101.9 FM in Victoria. Tune in if you dig late 70s Post-Punk, classic Motown soul, or Krautrock grooves. Together we'll dig deep into the musical buffet.
